About Us

Canadian Mental Health Association Huron-Perth Branch was established as the Perth County Branch in 1967. The official name change was confirmed in January 2000. CMHA´s office sites in Stratford and Seaforth are visible and inviting facilities which demonstrate our belief that the best way to overcome the stigma of mental illness is to be accessible. Our offices have resource centres where visitors can learn more about mental illness and support services. Offices also provide space for meetings, educational events, and offices for some of our staff. Most CMHA staff do not work from office locations. They travel 160,000 km a year to visit clients in their homes and other locations throughout the Huron-Perth District.

CMHA´s programs are funded by the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long Term Care, Nevada Break-Open ticket revenue, donations and special fundraising events.

The operation of CMHA´s programs and services are delivered by our professional staff with the support of many dedicated volunteers. Our volunteer Board of Directors monitors the effectiveness of our activities and oversees the integrity of our financial controls and planning processes.

CMHA´s offices operate as resource centres for mental health information and services. Trained staff and volunteers provide assistance to anyone wanting to learn more about mental illness and support services.

The Canadian Mental Health Association, Huron-Perth Branch is an integral part of the district´s mental health service system. Working as part of the Huron Perth Mental Health Network, member organizations provide a range of services including crisis intervention, acute treatment, case management, clinical and day programs, sexual assault counseling, alcohol and addiction treatment, emergency and long term supported housing, family support and social/recreational opportunities.
